Lieutenant-Governor of Ontario, Elizabeth Dowdeswell with Tom Bijvoet

One does not like to toot one’s own horn, but I must share with our readers the pride and satisfaction I felt when I was invited to Queen’s Park, the provincial legislature of the Canadian province of Ontario, for an awards ceremony. The invitation was to represent DUTCH, the magazine and our Dutch language sister publication De Krant to receive an ethnic press award for ‘Best Editorial Concept, Art and Visual Presentation’. The award was presented by the Lieutenant-Governor of Ontario, Elizabeth Dowdeswell.

We feel honored to be recognized in this way, and the award reflects on the hard work of all involved in producing DUTCH, the magazine. Special thanks go out to our advertisers and readers, especially our founding subscribers, who have made this possible. But the biggest accolade of course goes out to the editorial and design staff, and our many contributors! Congratulations all and thanks for all the hard work!
