Community Relations Officer
The Community Relations Officer maintains and develops relationships with the Dutch-Canadian and Dutch-American communities in all their various aspects. The incumbent will nurture ongoing contacts with Dutch clubs and societies, merchants, enterprises, governmental representatives and educational and cultural institutions; will organize and attend relevant events, report on those events and maintain an events calendar. Through the active participation in the community, both in Ontario and elsewhere he or she will identify and follow-up on appropriate sponsorship and advertising opportunities. The successful candidate should preferably already be well-connected with the community, be willing to travel, be an outgoing ‘people person’, and take the initiative. Adequate computer skills (Internet, email, word-processing) expected. Must be able to write short communiques and press releases.
Hours flexible, negotiable. Candidates must reside in, or be able to work from, the ‘Golden Horseshoe’ area of Ontario.
Candidates should be willing to grow with the company and be prepared to step outside of the boundaries of their specific job descriptions to take on a wider set of tasks as the need arises. The successful candidates must have a proven affinity with the Dutch culture and community and at least a basic passive knowledge of the Dutch language.
